DMACC

Last year students took a total of 649 classes through dual enrollment classes at Ames High School online and the Story County Consortium Career Academy.

View the current list of DMACC courses that Ames CSD will pay for which are available for students.

ALEKS Math Placement

Make sure to utilize the provided learning modules provided if you don’t pass on the first attempt. DMACC pays for three attempts at the ALEKS test. Other attempts may be made, but will need to be paid for by the student.

Any 9th-12th grader, so long as he/she meets the prerequisites for the courses and meets the district proficiency requirements, is eligible to enroll in courses at DMACC, with the exception of Career Technical Education (CTE), also knows as Career Academies, which is strictly for 11th-12th grade students.

Concurrent enrollment contracted courses are courses which a local district contracts with the community college and are paid for by the school district for the student.

  • OLCA at DMACC– stands for online career academy. OLCA courses are 100% asynchronous courses.

OLCA classes are listed as Online-WEB in the DMACC COURSE CATALOG:

  • OCCO at DMACC– stands for On Campus course options and includes courses which are 100% on campus, a combination of on-campus and asynchronous courses, or on-campus/ real time virtual courses.

The following are classifed as OCCO classes and are listed as the following in the DMACC COURSE CATALOG:

  1. Face-to-Face: Class location listed as [CAMPUS, Building & Room #]
  2. Face-to-Face & Online: Class location listed as [CAMPUS-Building & Room#, Web Blended WEB]- Part of the class meets face to face and the online portion is asynchronous instruction
  3. Real-time Virtual: Class location listed as [Online Virtual Classroom]- Students sign on virtually at a particular time for live instruction via video.
  4. Real-time Virtual & Online: Class location listed as [Online Virtual Classroom, Web Blended WEB]

Career Technical Education (CTE) – 1-2 year vocational programs (with the exception of the Business Academy, which is only 1 semester). These don’t require proficiency measures to be met (see below).
